Making photographs, not just taking them – Dundee, Tayside, Scotland

New Years Resolutions

So it’s that time of year again (sort of) and this year for once I actually have some resolutions, normally I think it’s just a stupid idea. Well not this year as I have plans for 2012.

Apart from everything else I want to achieve (such as get back into running and actually take part and complete a half marathon, get out on my motorbike more, make the switch from Windows to Mac, complete projects around the house…) I have ideas on what I want to do photography wise.  This year I really need to concentrate my learning on things such as post production editing, lighting (both indoor and outdoor), understanding and using histograms as well as replacing my 18-55mm kit lens.  This should give me the motivation to get out more with it and by taking more shots I should keep improving.

The other thing about spending more time improving my editing, it means I should learn more about how to take the photos in the first place and therefore avoiding spending as much time sat editing (time that could be better spend doing other things).

So the short of it is I need to concentrate on taking better photos and doing it more efficiently, only time will tell if I manage this.
