Making photographs, not just taking them – Dundee, Tayside, Scotland

A Dundee based photographer striving to learn/improve in order to turn passion into great photos whilst balancing a busy family life.

Always looking for any opportunities to find things to shoot and to provide people with images they love so please get in touch if you anything in mind.

Just me

So the story goes like this:

I’ve always had an interest in taking photos, but I never really gave it much thought.

In July 2010 the birth of my daughter spurred me on to think more seriously about how I go about taking better photographs.  Which in turn made me make up my mind to purchase my first DSLR.  I was so excited the day it arrived was like an extra Christmas but just a month or so after the usual one.

Of course the obvious subject was my now 7 month old daughter playing in her jumperoo.  She was and still is such a poser to any camera, her very early understanding of cameras and natural posing for them has given me plenty of opportunities to snap away and practice various ideas, hopefully this will continue into the future, but that’s a whole other story.

Since then I have well and truely imersed myself in the world of photography.  I may not be shooting every day but I certainly do read and study photographs/articles/gear reviews daily so that I am always learning or working on ideas to try, as well as picking up new gear to play with.  My equipment is always growing as I learn and adapt to new techniques and grow in my ability as a photographer.

This is the story so far, the journey continues so please follow along as I endeavour to learn how to improve in the world of photography and blog about what I learn along the way.
